I just picked up your book for my husband for Father’s Day/Fathers’ Day (which one??). Anyhow, while I was skimming “This is Ridiculous This is Amazing” at the store I was peeing my pants laughing. For real. I’ve had 4 kids within 5 years…laughing hard has become a serious thing for me.
Keep doing what you’re doing…keeping the morale up for those of us in the trenches is a noble and most-excellent thing!

  • the links aren’t working right, you’re missing a colon after http, link format is http://www.

  • your blog is superb. After reading several of your articles and feeling like you were writing directly from my head, for me, I felt compelled to visit your bio page. Then I read this; “I spend all my waking hours disappointing myself.” I cant even begin to tell you how concisely that describes my self view. Dont get me wrong, I’m generally happy, and i’m sure not suicidal or anything; but I find that I am just never satisfied with my efforts or accomplishments. I feel like I’m a shadow of what i’m supposed to be but I cant figure out what to do about it. I actually have the Ira Glass quote that you reference on my desk where i can see it. It just taunts me. I’m happy that you appear to be heading the correct direction. Cant wait to share your blog. I hope you have success; but not so much that it ruins you. Good luck.

  • I love your blog. I discovered it while reading an article about why toddlers have tantrums and how normal they are. I have to admit I was in a really bad mood, and your blogs had me laughing so hard I cried. The people at work were looking at me like I had lost my mind, and then laughing just as hard when I showed them. Thanks!

  • God, your blog had myself, husband and 9 year old son laughing and crying at the same time (I edited out a few bits while reading out loud, but he’s a mature 9 year old–through every single fault of mine). Our 7 month old little boy was in the room too, only he’s not even evolved enough to sit up unassisted or feed himself Cheerios so I didn’t hold it against him when his eyes were glassy as the rest of us fell over each other laughing. Your post on peeing your pants while gaming? My husband routinely leaves his iPad in the bathroom and I have had visions of the same thing happening. Your lists of what goes through your son’s head? I do that all the time–with both of my boys. I am a SAHM and my husband is a workaholic at a high-tech firm who travels all of the time. After having my second son I became bored. I started my own blog, so I tried finding blogs that were honest, funny and loving as well. I never found any to have all three qualities until I found this one. I know I offend people, but life isn’t perfect and parenting is full of joys, laughter & excitement–but it’s also filled with poop, homework, exhaustion, more poop, bullies and difficult teachers. Thank you for sharing your life. I hope my blog can reach people like yours reached my family.

  • My husband and I just stumbled across your site and have been swapping your posts back and forth laughing so hard we can’t see straight. It’s as if you’ve met our two boys, 4 and 2, and can read their minds. Thanks for the entertainment!

      You’re welcome!

  • Fabulous. I was laughing so hard at your posts I almost passed out. There is a dearth of great writing in the parent-blogomafiasphere, so I really appreciate your site. To your continued success!

  • There seem to be a million parenting blogs these days, but the writing is what sets yours apart. Congrats on putting this all together, and best wishes for continued success. -Gail
